Public Relations Specialist
Position Summary
Dittoe Public Relations’ PR Specialists are key drivers of proactive execution of public relations strategy, with emphasis on media relations and content creation. PR Specialists are expected to drive results while being guided by senior leadership on strategy and goal-setting. In this role, there are opportunities to lead select agency clients and team members with support of a Director of Accounts or Vice President (active or supervising role).
This position requires a well-rounded public relations skill set that Dittoe PR is committed to helping you develop and strengthen during your tenure. Essential Job Functions + Responsibilities*
- Serve as the lead executor of impact-driven PR strategy alongside agency client teams, informed by the strategic direction and goals set by a Director of Accounts or Vice President (active or supervising role).
- Collaborate with teams on day-to-day efforts, including social media teams (when applicable).
- Support the leadership of PR Coordinators and agency interns.
- Support strategic ideation and development of onboarding, campaign, quarterly, or annual strategic plans as assigned by account leads.
- Support local, trade, and national media relations efforts alongside account teams – often leading select campaigns – securing consistent, impactful media coverage that aligns with set goals. This also includes supporting story angle ideation (proactive and reactive), press list building, pitch writing, coordinating media opportunities, and attending select media opportunities.
- Support content creation, with an emphasis on press releases, media Q&As, thought leadership articles, award and speaking nominations, and case studies. Will work closely with the agency’s Director of Content on select content.
- Serve as an active client communicator, both written and verbal, with emphasis on real-time client relations, cyclical communications, coordinating media opportunities, co-leading client meetings, and presenting strategy.
- Lead comprehensive research projects, such as competitor or situational analysis, market research, award and speaking calendars, and more.
- Play a key role in reporting efforts, with emphasis on real-time media tracking, management of media dashboards, and supporting the development of quarterly and campaign reports.

Skills + Experience
- This role requires a minimum of 2+ years of professional experience in a public relations or related position; media relations and agency experience is plus.
- A bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, business, marketing, or a related program is required.
- Foundational to intermediate knowledge of the editorial process and how to work with media.
- Strong and versatile writing skills and knowledge of AP Style.
- Ability to communicate well both in written and verbal forms.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with multiple teams/contacts.
- Experience in platforms such as Microsoft Office, Muck Rack (or similar), Critical Mention (or similar), Google Analytics, Qwoted, and other public relations or business tools are a plus.
Additional Expectations
- Maintain knowledge of client industries and current events as they apply to those sectors.
- Stay on top of the changing media landscape and maintain up-to-date knowledge of media relations and PR trends, practices, and tactics.
- Contribute as needed to agency initiatives outside of account work (e.g., Dittoe PR blog writing, college speaking engagements and panels, agency committees, and more), when available and as desired.
- This is a full-time, salaried position; salary will reflect the level of experience upon job entry.
- In a fast-paced industry, team members will juggle multiple clients and competing deadlines.
- Occasional evenings, weekends, or travel may be required as job duties demand.
- Being based in (or relocating* to) Central Indiana is preferred, but not required.
