If one thing can be said about the new Market District and GetGo Cafe + Market stores it’s that they’ve got style. The two stores, subsidiaries of the multi-format retailer Giant Eagle, Inc., opened with a bang this week in Carmel.


In addition to showcasing their unique products, the opening turned into a star-studded affair with an opportunity for local media, as well as foodie, family and lifestyle bloggers, to get one-on-one interactions with Market District and GetGo executives, Market District’s culinary chefs, and celebrity guest Marc Summers, host of “Unwrapped” and executive producer of “Restaurant: Impossible” on Food Network.

With 120,000 square feet of space, Market District and its offerings are almost unbelievable. Here’s a glimpse of what they have to offer:

  • A climate controlled cigar humidor within its 15,000-swuare-feet beer, wine and liquor department;
  • A Beauty Bar offering blow outs, haircuts, makeup and facials;
  • A full-service restaurant, table by Market District;
  • Themed and seasonal cooking classes led by Market District Chefs in its Cooking School;
  • Gourmet and exotic delicacies such as truffle mushrooms and python meat (for the adventurous); and
  • A wide range of organic and whole foods to satisfy every palate.


The 24-hour GetGo Cafe also offers a unique experience with a menu of made-fresh-to-order foods including mouthwatering, customizable subs, burgers, breakfast sandwiches and more, available at any time, day or night. The cafe also offers better-for-you options such as oatmeal, flatbreads and salads. Also available is a Smoothie & Espresso Bar, including lattes, mochas, iced coffees, espressos and more.

Market District is Giant Eagle, Inc.’s first store in the Indiana market and needless to say, they were excited to bring the unique foodie concept and its offerings to Carmel. They brought Dittoe PR on board to ensure that consumers and media were just as excited about its grand opening.


Leading up to the grand opening, Dittoe PR worked to secure prime coverage for Market District and ensure the opening was at the forefront of everyone’s minds.


We primarily focused on obtaining earned media coverage in the Central Indiana market with a focus on the Indianapolis-area. Through our efforts, we were able to secure stories with nearly ever media outlet including The Indianapolis Star, Indianapolis Business Journal, Inside Indiana Business with Gerry Dick, Indianapolis Monthly, Current in Carmel and many more! In addition, our friends at the local TV stations joined us grand opening week for special segments, one-on-one tours, executive interviews and an unlimited amount of b-roll for morning and evening TV spots.

Ironworks Indy Fall Block Party

What better way to kick off October than with a block party? Ironworks at Keystone, Indianapolis’ premier living and retail property, celebrated its one-year anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 3, by hosting a complimentary family-friendly block party featuring entertainment, live music, food, beer and more.

The event kept the kiddos entertained with bounce houses, face painting, balloon twisting, pumpkin painting and magic shows…all for free! This allowed parents to kick back (with local beer from Bier Brewery), enjoy touring the mixed development property and sampling free food from the property’s restaurant tenants: Ruth’s Chris, Sangiovese Ristorante and B Spot Burgers.

Not even pets were left out of this party! The Humane Society for Hamilton County was in attendance with a marketing booth and furry friends for those interested in animal adoption.

How Dittoe PR assisted in the Ironworks block party

At Dittoe PR, we know how to throw a great event. Our staff worked diligently to ensure the event was a success by300x170-image coordinating all media activity as well as handling the logistics.

Our team was responsible for:

  • Securing event vendors and certificates of insurance, W9s and contracts;
  • Working with each retail tenant for discounts offered to the public that day;
  • Keep track of budget we were given;
  • Coordinating charitable partnerships;
  • Developing the VIP and media list;
  • Getting the word out to the public;
  • Orchestrating the set up the day of the event.

We had more than 300 Eventbrite registrants, which surpassed Ironworks’ goal.

Dittoe was at the event to make sure that the nitty-gritty details were seamless for the big day. While the weather was not cooperative, we still had about 200 people come out to Ironworks’ first-ever Fall Block Party. Because of its success, Ironworks hopes to make this event recurring!

Dittoe PR Helps Westin Indianapolis Celebrate Its Multi-Million Dollar Renovation

Westin Indianapolis has been a staple in downtown Indianapolis since 1989, offering visitors a top-tier place to stay in town for conventions, Colts games and more. The hotel has witnessed downtown Indianapolis evolve from an afterthought on the national level to one of the country’s best host sites for events, sports championships, national conferences and tournaments.

In order to meet the growing demand for luxury accommodations in downtown Indianapolis and to compete with new mega-hotels like the JW Marriot, Westin Indianapolis set out to complete a multi-million dollar renovation to provide guests with the best experience possible.

The renovation features 575 all-new guest rooms that include the latest technologies and designs, such as the signature Westin Heavenly® Bed and Westin Heavenly® Shower. It also unveiled the largest pipeline of high-speed Internet bandwidth available in any Indianapolis hotel and introduced its innovative office space, Tangent, which enhances productivity for small business groups

Westin Lobby 2The impressiveness of the renovation needed attention, both locally and nationally. The Westin team set out to find a way to effectively spread the word about its renovated hotel and to make sure the public knew they had become the most state-of-the-art hotel in downtown Indianapolis.

That’s where the Dittoe Public Relations team came into play. Westin worked with our firm to create buzz about the renovation through media relations, social media, contest promotions and the grand unveiling party. The team created a strategic campaign to ensure Westin’s success.

Regarding social media, the team updated Westin’s channels and created a unified goal for all posts and content. The results were tangible – showing a 5.4 percent increase in Facebook page likes, 6.9 percent increase in Twitter followers and a 32.5 percent increase in Instagram followers – all in only 45 days.

TangentAll of the focus around Westin’s renovation culminated with the grand unveiling party on April 22. Dittoe PR helped the Westin team prepare for the event by creating a press release outlining the renovation, crafting an email promotion campaign and constructing the invite design and copy.

Ultimately, Dittoe’s most important job was to make sure that the media attended and/or covered the event. By sending personalized invites to local media, Dittoe received eight confirmed responses from media members to either attend or write about the event.

The party was an incredible success, with more than 150 people arriving throughout the night to experience Westin’s renovations, sample delicious food and drinks and participate in a comprehensive tour of all of the hotel’s new offerings. Media outlets in attendance included the Indianapolis Star, Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce and Where Indianapolis, and WXIN-TV previewed the event

Westin LobbyAt the start of 2014, Indianapolis residents may not have known that one of downtown’s mainstays had become a hotel worthy of a successful celebration, but thanks to Dittoe PR, they do now.
